An average citizen generally has no idea, what a FootSpa is. Foot Spa is a strange bathtube for your feet – feel free to watch the video . Recently I was able to obtain two instances of Clairol FootSpa devices for 4€ apiece (with a back thought, because I already have my own device for the primary purpose).
A standard question – what is inside? The answer is:
- A 4-position switch to choose either heating or vibration, or both.
- A primitive ceramic heater (isolated by a layer of mica and having a metal half-body)
- A powerful vibration device (bigger than the vibrators in mobile phones – but is it useful for PCB etching?)
The electrical installation has been done professionally. No chance to get hit 😉
The ceramic heater is small, it will not heat the water but rather helps to keep the initial temperature longer:
Not to hit the bathing human, the heater has been properly insulated:
While the temperature on the Alu wings easily reached 100 degrees Celsius and more, it took 30 minutes for the device to heat 250ml water from 22 degrees to 34 degrees (some little stirring was necessary to distribute the heat). Not too magnificant. Could be, two heaters in pair manage to do the job?
Another interesting piece is the vibrating device. It is huge and heavy:
The vibrating experience is really magnificant:
